Sabah, 15 April 2025 – Shin Yang Shipyard Sdn Bhd, member of Shin Yang Group Berhad is proud to announce the successful delivery of KM Banggi, to the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), marking a significant milestone in national maritime capability enhancement.

Undertaken amidst a challenging fiscal environment, the repair and repowering of KM Banggi was completed on time, within budget, and to exacting standards — a reflection of the professionalism and dedication of the Malaysian shipbuilding workforce.

 “We are deeply honored by the trust placed in us by MMEA. The successful delivery of KM Banggi reflects not just technical achievement, but the power of collaboration, resilience, and national pride,” said a Shin Yang Shipyard’s Executive Director, Mr, Vincent Ling Lu Yew.

This vessel will enhance MMEA’s operational readiness and maritime security efforts. The shipyard also thanked the MMEA logistic and technical team for their close cooperation throughout the project.

Mr. Vincent Ling added: “May KM Banggi sail strong, and may she stand as a symbol of safety, strength, and sovereignty for our maritime borders.”

  • Harbour Acceptance Trial: 10–21 Feb 2025
  • Sea Acceptance Trial: 5–8 Mar 2025
    • Completion: 16 March 2025

In a symbolic gesture during the ceremony, the Protocol of Delivery was formally presented to Deputy Director General (Logistic), Vice Admiral (Maritime) Datuk Saiful Lizan bin Ibrahim, marking the official handover of KM Banggi to MMEA witness by Director General of MMEA , Admiral (Maritime) Datuk Haji Mohd Rosli bin Abdullah. Additionally, as a token of appreciation and partnership, a commemorative memento was presented to Admiral (Maritime) Datuk Haji Mohd Rosli bin Abdullah.
