KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 25): Shin Yang Shipping Corp Bhd has appointed Datuk Ling Lu Kiong as the group’s executive vice chairman, effective Friday (Feb 25).
The shipbuilding and repair company made the announcement in a filing with Bursa Malaysia. Lu Kiong is the son of the group's chairman, Tan Sri Datuk Ling Chiong Ho, and nephew of Ling Chiong Pin and Ling Chiong Sing, who serve as Shin Yang Shipping's executive director and group managing director, respectively.
Lu Kiong, 41, is currently managing director of Sarawak-based Shin Yang Group of Companies. He is also an appointed representative of Shin Yang Holding Sdn Bhd, one of the substantial shareholders of Shin Yang Shipping, where he holds 100,000 direct shares.
“He brings with him nearly 20 years of extensive working experiences and hands-on knowledge on all aspects of Shin Yang Group's business activities, which include timber downstream processing, forest reforestation and oil palm plantation, shipping and shipbuilding activities, quarry operation, public servicing section, property development and construction, hypermarket & department store business, hotel management and general trading.
“He was conferred the award of Darjah Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK) by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak on Oct 9, 2021,” said the group.
At market close, Shin Yang Shipping shares closed up half a sen or 1.32% at 38.5 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM462 million.
